Jeroen Perk
Jeroen Perk was 17 jaar lang functioneel blind. In 2013 kreeg hij het Argus II ‘bionische oog’, waarmee hij licht en contouren kon waarnemen via slechts 60 pixels.
Toen het bedrijf achter de technologie later de ondersteuning voor het implantaat stopzette, maakte Jeroen een andere kant van medische innovatie mee: wat gebeurt er als de technologie verdergaat, maar de patiënt niet?
Hij brengt het perspectief van de patiënt in een discussie die vaak wordt gedomineerd door wetenschappers, ingenieurs en bedrijven. Hoe voelt vooruitgang eigenlijk aan voor degene die de technologie gebruikt? Wat gaat er beter, wat blijft moeilijk, en welke blinde vlekken worden pas zichtbaar als innovatie deel gaat uitmaken van iemands dagelijks leven?
